Trump Goes After Michelle Obama, Puts Grade School Children At Risk, This Is His Sickest Move Yet

Former First Lady Michelle Obama might find some of the latest actions by the Trump administration pretty difficult to stomach. For years, Michelle has worked hard on her trademark platform: healthier school lunch programs. Promoting healthy eating options and combating childhood obesity were top priorities for Michelle Obama. Even after the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010 took effect, Michelle Obama continued to defend its importance. However, Donald Trump has made it a personal mission to dismantle every accomplishment made by the Obama administration.

On Tuesday, newly-minted Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue announced a rollback of school lunch standards championed by the former first lady, declaring at a Virginia school that the administration would “Make School Meals Great Again.”

Many are wondering: what does that even mean?

In layman’s terms, it means that Trump and his foul administration want school cafeterias to be filled with junk food once again. Agriculture Secretary Perdue argued that the standards led to children simply not eating the healthier lunches provided for them. Currently, the standards through the National School Lunch and Breakfast Programs provide healthy meals to low-income children. The meals have less salt, no trans-fat, and more fruit, vegetables, and grains. They also remove soda and junk food from schools. Furthermore, sodium reductions set in place by the Obama administration will be postponed for at least three years (thanks to Trump)  to “provide schools and the school nutrition industry with the certainty and predictability they need to make appropriate plans for creating foods with the appropriate amount of sodium.”

We all know Donald Trump’s food preference is McDonald’s, sodas, and well-done steaks with ketchup, but that doesn’t mean children should be exposed to those options. Trump, who thinks swinging a golf club from time to time is exercise, is trying to promote the same terrible eating habits to our youth. He is no role model. In fact, he should be the poster child for obesity. Ultimately, this new program will increase a child’s risks of health issues from poor nutrition.
