Just My Thoughts: Trump Has a Problem with African-Americans

By Reginald Kearney

It seems as if our current President has a problem with the African-American Community. One sign of that problem is when you look at the pictures that are taken in the oval office. It is hard to find the face of an African-American person and that of a person of color. It seems as if this current president has decided to distance himself and the White House from the African-American community. Other than his appointment of Ben Carson and Omarosa Manigault, this administration is basically colorless.

The issue that has really got my blood pressure up is the president’s childish behaviors that he exhibits from time to time. I remember that as a child we would call each other names, but we out grew that stage of life as we became mature and older. This is not what we see from the president as he finds he appealing to call people names. Mainly people of color.

We all remember him calling the football players “SOB’s” because of their stance of kneeling during the national anthem as a way of protesting the injustices that African-American’s face in this country we live in. As we put this in content, close to 70% of the NFL players are African-American, so this clearly shows that he was directing his name calling towards those African-American players.

This week the president continued to show his true colors as he got into a war of words on Twitter with LaVar Ball concerning his refusal to thank him for supposedly getting his son and two other UCLA basketball players out of trouble in China. The president in one of his many tweets said that “LaVar is just a poor man’s version of Don King, but without the hair,” and later he took credit for releasing Li Angelo Ball from jail, before calling LaVar Ball an “ungrateful fool.” By connecting the dots, you see that the president is directing his anger at a person or persons of color. Greg Sargent tweeted and wrote in his opinion piece in the Washington Post called The Plum Line that “Trump’s rage-tweets about LaVar Ball are part of a pattern. Trump regularly attacks high-profile African-Americans to feed his supporters’ belief that the system is rigged for minorities.” In other words Trump wants African-Americans to kiss his butt and when that doesn’t happen he gets mad.

I applaud LaVar Ball for taking his stand and not bowing down to the president and showing him that he will not be bullied. The president should also realize that no African-American will be bullied or intimidated by his childish actions. Again, these are Just My Thoughts.
